We believe that the Bible calls us to be a church of gospel communities on mission.
We believe that discipleship (learning and obeying Jesus' teaching) is what causes us to cherish the gospel, recognize our need for community, and participate in what God is already doing in our homes, city, and the world.
Using Jesus' example of teaching the multitudes, training the 12 disciples and more intimately investing in an even smaller number of those disciples (Peter, James and John), we gather on Sundays with the whole church for worship, prayer, teaching, and communion. We live our lives throughout the week with our missional communities, and have even smaller groups that meet for focused discipleship.
The gospel is called the “good news” and it is particularly good news about our sin problem. In a nutshell, we can sum it up this way: the gospel is that God himself has come to rescue and restore creation in and through the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf.
Learn how the gospel makes us a Family, and how we live that out in Los Angeles. The emphasis we place on community is based on our new identity in the gospel. Because of Jesus, we are adopted into the family of God, through no merit of our own.
The gospel leads us to make disciples of Jesus in all that we do as a church. Because of this, we are sent by the Spirit to restore all things to God through Jesus Christ, submitting to the sending and leading of the Spirit.
Our lives must be (and get to be) all about Jesus
—his gospel changes everything.
A Missional Community consists of a committed core of believers (FAMILY) who live out the mission of God together (MISSIONARIES) in a specific area or to a particular people group by demonstrating the gospel in tangible forms (SERVANTS) and declaring the gospel to others — both those who believe it and those who are being exposed to it (LEARNERS).
To clarify, a Missional Community is NOT primarily a small group, Bible study, support group, social activist group, or weekly meeting. Our hope is that every person who is committed to the Redeemer family and mission will be fully involved in a Missional Community and eventually the Missional Communities in a region will multiply and together form a new local church.
Art & Soul
To live out and teach others to follow Jesus' command to love one another,
we need to spend time together - community.
While our missional communities practice the New Testament's One Another commands throughout the week in homes, we all gather every Sunday at 10:30AM to celebrate the grace of God in Christ Jesus. We believe that God inhabits the praises of His people, and every Sunday we learn to listen to God as He speaks through His Word, we learn to praise and worship Him through song, and remember Christ's sacrifice through communion.
Our Sunday gatherings are an essential aspect of life in a missional community, and every week, a different community serves the whole church together.
We meet every Sunday at 10:30AM at 2201 West Alameda Blvd. in Burbank. Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of Myers and Alameda
Mike Brown - Teaching Pastor
We believe that God has revealed Himself to His creation and that the Bible is His infallible, unchanging Word to us today. When we gather, we typically teach through different books of the Bible, with a focus on how Jesus is the central figure of both the Old and New Testaments, and how all of God's redemptive plan for the world is finished in Jesus. For our little ones, we have a safe and fun nursery for the babies and a classroom for the toddlers upstairs. After our time in song and prayer, the older children are invited to join a teacher who takes them to a different classroom to teach the Bible, hear what God is doing in their lives, and help them develop a love for God and His Word. And the gospel gives this community a purpose outside themselves
—Jesus sends them on his mission to demonstrate and declare the good news about himself.
